Nothing against Mindsay, but I'm starting a fresh new blog here: http://fgonzalez78.blogspot.com/
Check me out.
Well, yesterday as my co-workers and I watched the John Kerry concession speech and the President's victory speech from Damon's Bar & Grill in the Talleyville suburb of Wilmington, over a late and long lunch break from work, some reporters from the Wilmington News Journal (that's our paper here) were there to get some action shots and some quotes.
They took a picture of us toasting some shots over a Heinz Ketchup bottle with a Bush-Cheney button pinnned on it, with the background large TV screen that had Kerry conceding to Bush. Then they asked a couple random questions and I get quoted saying "It feels like a bright sunshiny day." Nice.
Here'sthe article on the concession and victory speeches and how locals in Delaware viewed it. My quote is about 1/3 the way through the article and you can see a pic of my colleagues and I toasting, but I didnt get in the pic.
9/11 Victims' Families for Bush
In an
open letter to the American people, hundreds of 9/11 victims' families have asked the American people to support President Bush during this time of war for our nation.
In the letter, the victims' families thanked the American people for their words of strength and their vow to "never forget" the victims of 9/11. The families of these victims return a letter to all of the American people who are facing a difficult decision in this November's elections. "We speak to you now in the same spirit that you spoke to us then, as Americans, united on behalf of our country," says the letter.
The families articulate President Bush's foreign policy and homeland security response to 9/11 by saying that, "simply reacting to danger after lives are lost is a weak and unacceptable national defense. [President Bush] believes that taking the fight to the enemy is the best way to ensure that the enemy will not bring death to our doorstep here at home. We agree."
They end their letter with bold words to the American people: "Three years ago, George W. Bush stood with us and vowed that he would 'Never forget.' We stand with him now."
Bush holds 5-point lead in Popular Vote
The first true post-debate poll was released today by the
Washington Post/ABC News.Polling the nation's vote, Bush holds a 51 to 46 percent lead over Kerry, with Nader taking 1 percent in the hypothetical popular vote for the nation.
This is pretty amazing since most of the media and the public also believed Kerry "won" the debate. Yet, the majority of Americans still believe Bush is a stronger leader and a better Commander-in-Chief. This race is beginning to look like it's over. Bush has a pretty commanding lead in the electoral college with just 29 days to go.
We'll see what happens... I'm waiting for this election to just be over already.
Why the Youth are voting for Bush
Today, Ben Shapiro's column, "Why My Peers are Voting for Bush" explained why Democrats have lost the comfortable lead they always had in the youth vote. Oh, the times they are a'changing.
A snippet from Shapiro's column on his generation's take: "The economy may be our top priority, but we're divided about who should handle it. It's then that we take a step back, look at the larger picture -- and see that national security dictates what happens economically. And on national security, there's no debate. We want strong leadership. We want to take the war to the terrorists. We want George W. Bush."
Well said.
